Working Carers Gateway Project Ending

On 30 June 2018, the funding agreement between Disability and Aged Information Service Inc (DAISI) and Family and Community Services (FACS) for the Working Carers Gateway will reach its completion date.

FACS will commence funding projects through a new Carers Investment Program valued at $5.6m over three years.  The Program will complement the focus areas in the existing NSW Carers Strategy 2014-2019 and encourage innovation and collaboration. FACS used a competitive tender process to seek and select projects proposed by organisations across NSW.

Information about the new Carers Investment Program will be available on the FACS website. It will include projects in the focus area of carer employment.

In addition, the Australian Government has recently announced an investment of $85.6 million through the Integrated Carer Support Service (ICSS) to roll out a range of new early-intervention services for unpaid carers. The new services will be available through the national Carer Gateway, including national phone and online counselling services, online peer support, mentoring and online coaching resources, and educational resources to increase skills and knowledge of carers relating to specific caring situations.

From September 2019, through ICSS, the Australian Government will establish a new network of Regional Delivery Partners across Australia to provide a range of services including targeted financial support packages with a focus on employment and education.

FACS would like to thank DAISI and the Working Carers Gateway for their effort to support carers and note that the carer articles and resources will still be available for carers to access on the DAISI website until further notice - daisi.asn.au
